Essex County Council Recycling Centre Bookings consultation

Essex County Council has launched a consultation about the booking process at its recycling centres. It is proposing to keep the process in place permanently and want to know what you think.

Up to now, the booking process has been trialled at all 21 recycling centres. The aim has been to manage demand at peak times. Essex County Council also wanted to reduce congestion and misuse by commercial vehicles.

Evaluation of the trial shows the booking process has been working well.

Councillor Peter Schwier, Essex County Council’s Cabinet Member for Climate, Environment, Waste Reduction and Recycling, said:

“The booking process is helping us to manage demand across our operating hours and improve efficiency on the sites.

“The trial has been evaluated to show how it has worked so far, and we have gathered initial user insight via a feedback survey.

“Based on the evaluation, we are proposing to keep the booking process at all recycling centres, but we want to know what you think. Your feedback is an important part of the decision-making process.”.

The consultation is open until Sunday 19 November.
