Tendring Conservation Area Appraisal Consultation

HAVE YOUR SAY

On 20th March 2020 Tendring District Council Cabinet agreed to formally adopt the Council’s Heritage Strategy. This Strategy contained a number of actions which were envisaged to be carried out by the Council and its partners throughout the lifetime of the Strategy. One of these actions was for Officers to update the Conservation Area Appraisals which exist. The Council has already consulted on the first five Conservation Area Apparels in the summer and is now progressing with the next five one of which is Manningtree and Mistley.

The Conservation Area Appraisals contain details of why these areas are special and will help planning officers, residents and developers better understand what is important about these Conservation Areas. The Appraisals also put forward management proposals for each of the Conservation Areas which could include; changes to the boundary, recognising non-designated buildings and promoting information about each Conservation Area.

The Council is therefore hosting a six week public consultation on the above which will run from Monday 3rd October to 5PM on Monday 14th November. There will also be a public exhibition event held at Foundry Court, Colchester Road, Manningtree, CO11 1EJ on 20th October 2022 from 3pm to 7pm

Here are some questions to get you started:

  • What makes these Conservation Areas unique, and do you have any local information about these Conservation Areas that we may have missed?
  • Do the suggested boundaries best suit the Conservation Areas?
  • What threats face these Conservation Areas?

If you would like to make comments on the Conservation Area Appraisals please either:
